Van's First Camping Trip

This past weekend we went up to Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park with our friends, Ed & Tracy Post and their kids Edward & Sara. It was Van's first camping trip... but won't be the last.
After helping Josh set up the tent (Van carried the stakes and mallet for Dad), and the Posts with theirs as well, we all took a little hike over to the moraine. When we got back the boys made a fire and we had dinner, followed by s'mores of course!
After such a busy day Van went right to sleep in his pack-n-play in the tent... until about 1 a.m. when he decided he wanted to sleep with Dad in his sleeping bag for a while. Then around 3 a.m. Van woke up... wide awake. Josh took the boy to the car, put him in his car seat and the kiddo passed right out again. Josh took his bag to the car and slept there with Van. My theory is he was too cold in the tent - it was chilly!
In the morning we rose and had a great breakfast with the help of Edward & Sara - sausages and eggs with homemade biscuits and honey! Yummm. Then we packed up and took a hike down the Cub Lake Trail. We saw a Yellow-bellied Marmot (click on picture above for more shots from the trip), lots of ground squirrels and we even crossed paths with a coyote!
Everyone had a spectacular time and we'll definitely be going camping again with Van real soon.
