Spring in Texas with The Redmores

We were the last ones to arrive at the ranch house on Saturday morning. Everyone else had gotten in late the night before. So breakfast was the first time we all saw each other, and it was a great way to start the day!

I'll start by saying that spring is absolutely gorgeous in Hill Country this year!! Bluebonnets just blanketed the sides of the roads in thick, blue patches! Sprinkled in were red Indian Paintbrush, pink Wine Cups and other little white & yellow flowers. It all just takes the breath away!

With everything so green and flowering, we spent a lot of time having coffee/tea and snacks on the front porch, and the boys and puppies played outside as much as possible! Shannon & Kyle brought a badminton set, and Josh & Seth mixed up some cement in a tire for a tether ball! Its become quite the recreational resort!

Van's favorite outdoor activity was climbing on Kyle's riding lawn mower. He'd climb up and say, "Kyle! Tractor!" He also liked playing "Giant" amongst the flowers, stomping and doing his monster growl. I think Ahir's favorite thing to do outside was launch his rockets, then go searching for them in the pasture... Josh and Seth enjoyed it, too. :-)

Everyone pitched in with the cooking and we had some spectacular meals! The girls all went out to the Bluebonnet Cafe one afternoon, too, for Pie Happy Hour. That's right. A piece of pie and a bottom-less cup of coffee for $3 - sweet. And of course, there was a night of Cooper's bar-b-que - yummmmmy!

We tried yet again to see the River Walk in San Antonio, but were rained out again! We did have a great lunch at Mi Tierra and did some shopping at El Mercado, which was lovely.

There were walks in the pasture, looking for cows, playing in the creek and peaceful times at the house (as well as some raucous times playin' CatchPhrase!). It was a great week, and although we won't be able to do it until next spring, we're already looking forward to it! Click HERE for more pictures.
