EVERYTHING IS AWESOME at Lego Brick Fest

The whole family joined our friends, The Brogans, at the Lego Brick Fest in Denver yesterday.  It was a ComiCon-like event... but all about LEGOS!  If you didn't know, all the boys in this house are kinda Lego-geeks.  They were all in heaven at this event, let me tell ya.

There was a giant pit of red Legos.  All red.  Van sat down and immediately started to build, where as Wes enjoyed the tactile & auditory experience of walking through a huge pile of clinking, tinkling Lego bricks (with shoes, cause he's not crazy).

From here we zoomed over to the racing station.  The boys were given a car base, a table with bins full of random Lego pieces and 3 minutes on the clock to build the best racer than could.  Then the cars were lined up and released!  Van had been looking forward to this station for a LONG time.  All his anticipation and practice paid off - he came in first (center car)!  Wes came in fourth (far right, but Mom was his coach and is admittedly not a proficient race car builder).  Below is a video of their race, and you can hear the boys' excitement as they count down!

We saw glowing Legos, every mini figure in existence I'm sure, lots of extremely intricate Lego city-scapes (pre-built by pro's), a sea of Lego pirate ships of all shapes and sizes, HUGE Star Wars ships along with a group of Imperial Storm Troopers as well as an R3 unit, and stations allowing the boys to play all the latest Lego video games... which was their favorite place to be.

We allowed the boys to pick out one small set each before we left, and said good bye to Brick Fest.  Everything really was AWESOME!
