Goooooooo Falcons!

It's happened.  Wesley is big enough to play flag football.  And let me tell ya:  he is soooooo excited!

He did great at the combine a couple weeks ago, and we saw one of his best friends from school there.  I put in a couple emails to the powers-that-be and it was done:  they were on the same team - the Falcons!

The league has become quite popular, and this year they had trouble finding coaches for all the teams!  I'd volunteered to be the Team Manager, and Josh is already over-committed so he just couldn't manage it.  Just a few days before scrimmages started one of the dads stepped up to coach.  This is his first time doing it, but so far he's done a great job and all the parents are super appreciative of his time and efforts.

Wes has just been elated at the whole process - going to combine, being assigned a team, getting cleats and his very own mouth guard, going to practice and having his own flags.  I think the icing on the cake was getting his jersey.  He's watched Van do these things for a long time from the side lines, always being promised he'd get to do it when he was bigger.  Well... he's bigger!

The Falcons played two scrimmage games this past Saturday and did very well for having one practice and only half the team having played at all before.  All the boys listened well and were very instruct-able on the field (not a lot of horseplay to contend with).

Van was such a good big brother - supportive and encouraging.  This was a new experience for him as well.  He's never been the 'cheerleader' for Wes, but he did an amazing job telling his little brother how well he was doing and cheering his team on.  Mom and Dad were very proud of both the boys this weekend!
