Welcome Faye

One of Van's Christmas gifts was a certificate to adopt a cat for himself. Losing Ophie touched him quite a bit, and he'd been pushing for his own pet for a long while.  We thought this was an opportunity for him to take on more responsibility.

We went to the Longmont Humane Society today to see if they had any female cats around 1-2 years old that would be a good match for Van.  Josh and I prepared him to be ready to walk out the door if there wasn't a match there - we'd check out the other Humane Societies in the area and find just the right one!

Well... we didn't have to go any farther than Longmont.  They only had about a handfull of cats there (which is a good thing, really!) and only a few that weren't seniors.  We saw all of the cats at least twice then asked to see this little black one named "Faye."

She is just a year and a half old, and only weighs about 7 pounds.  We got to play with her in one of the Meet-n-Greet rooms, and it was clear pretty quick that she was a perfect fit.  She was sweet, curious, unafraid of the boys' attentions, and when she curled up on Josh's lap that was the end of the decision making process - We'll take her!

We'd talked about lots of different names for Van's new cat, but in the end he really liked the name she came with... so Faye she will stay.

Faye will be staying in Van's room until after her vet appointment next week.  She's pretty happy in there with lots of toys to play with and a number of super comfy bedding options.  Most of all she's got Van to love on her, which makes him pretty happy too.
