Walkin' on water

Okay, as many of you may already know:  I am a Pinterest addict.  This was one of the cooler kid's ideas I found on there, and have been determined to do it this summer!  Well, the days are getting shorter, Van has started school and I've even seen a few of the trees start to change... summer's on it's way out the door.

This was our second attempt at the Giant Water Bag.  The first one I tried to do by myself and it actually tried to roll away from me because I didn't place it on the yard quite right.  (our yard slopes pretty well in a couple places)  The second time I asked Josh to help out and it worked much better!  We made a slightly smaller bag out of the Husky sheeting (3.5mil) so it all stayed in the flat part of the front yard.  Unfortunately we had run out of duct tape, but we used the Scotch packing tape, which worked pretty well for the most part.  Once the little leaks started we had to revert to the little bit of duct tape we had left to patch 'em up.  What resulted from this second try was a bag with about 3-5 inches of water in it and a ton of fun for the boys!  They loved it!

Van was having a blast running and trying cartwheels, jumping and watching the waves and log rolling from one end to the other.  Wes enjoyed hitting the plastic with his hands and watching the bubbles underneath, the waves around him, or just laying down and being rocked and wiggled by his big brother.

And in the end when the fun was over Josh just ripped open a side and watered the lawn with the contents - awesome.  Josh and I think we can do better next time.  Duct tape all around, roll the seams before sealing and don't tell the kids what you're doing until it's done (they kept trying to "help" and were quite impatient for the bag to fill, which takes about 15-20 min).  The original poster of the project suggested coloring the water and/or soft toys in the bag.  Thank you Pinterest!
