Happy 2nd Birthday, Wesley!

Today we celebrated Wesley's 2nd birthday!  He woke up to help Van find our elf, George, then had his favorite breakfast:  pancakes ala Daddy w/ sausages!  There were even a couple candles to blow out in his pancake and we even sang "Happy Birthday" to him.  Afterwards the fun continued.... and it wasn't even 8:00 yet!  Presents.  Grampa Gary got him a very cool Shake-n-Go Red firetruck, which got him so jazzed he almost forgot about the big box yet to be opened from Mom and Dad.  Van helped divert his attention to the unopened gift though (always a helper).  A Quadrilla marble set.  We were set to get dressed for our outing to the Denver Children's Museum... but neither of the boys wanted to leave the table with the marble set!  We convinced them they were in for a real treat and off we went.

The Museum is such a fun place for kids in Denver!  Wes hasn't been in almost a year, so this was going to be a very different experience for him, and Mom & Dad.  Holy cow did he have fun!!  Mom and Dad were pleasantly surprised at the lack of crowd - it made the visit much more enjoyable.  Wes was really only able to play in the Creepers & Crawlers Meadow last time, but he didn't even go in that area this trip!  He was too excited to be in the "real" fire engine!  Van was, too.  With the popularity of Fireman Sam in our house lately, this was a big hit.

We moved upstairs to their new exhibit:  Kinetics.  It was a series of Rube Goldberg machines that kids can put balls into to make wheels turn, music sound or levers flip.  It was so much fun for all of us!  The boys both had a blast in all of the exhibits, but this one was by far the favorite.

Wesley had an absolute blast at the museum, and playing with his new toys today.  He also got to video chat with Nana & PopPop, another treat he enjoyed.  All in all I think he had a great birthday!  But the party continues on Saturday.... can't wait!
