Santa Fe, NM

Friends of our trekked down to Santa Fe, NM last year and came back with nothing but rave reviews.  So we thought it'd be a fun mini-trip over Memorial Day weekend.  Well, our mini-trip ended up being a short "big" trip with the whole Irwin family!  SO much fun!!  Nana & PopPop flew in from PA, Kurt & Lindsay and Abe, Kaity & Ainsley all took the weekend off to come with us, too.

We took the scenic route south to New Mexico.  On the way we passed by Great Sand Dunes National Park and stopped to cool our toes and check out the largetst sand dune in North America.

I found a house on VRBO, Casa Martita, that sounded great.  The pictures weren't anything to write home about honestly, but I figured we'd be out a lot anyway, so if the kitchen was small whatever.  WHOA!  Was I wrong!  The house was breathtaking.  And with the weekend pretty rain covered we anticipated spending a little more time at home than originally thought.  No worries - the place was great!!

Downtown Santa Fe was our first stop on Friday!  We got up, had a big breakfast in our gorgeous kitchen and zipped off to downtown.  The Plaza was so much fun - full of beautiful jewelry and lots of people.  We all did a little shopping, the boys even found an art station for kids to take a break from the hustle & bustle and get creative themselves.  It was Kaity's 30th birthday so she picked a great spot for lunch, The Shed.  Oh!  So good.  Yum!  Such beautiful galleries full of paintings and sculpture - something for everyone.

After two art and fun-filled days we had our last night in the house with a bang... litterally.  Kurt managed to come by a few sparklers and poppers for the boys to enjoy on our last evening.  They had a blast (ha ha)!

Our family weekend in Santa Fe was amazing!  Everyone had a spectacular time!  Josh and I are already planning our next trip down, and are devising ways to cover more of our everyday food with green chili.

Thank you to Nana & PopPop for coming West to share the weekend with all of us kids!  It was a quick trip but filled with countless wonderful memories for each one of us.
