Our Scottish Friends

On Wednesday the 30th we were so, so lucky to be able to meet up with our friends from Boulder, The Brogans!  They had been visiting family in Glasgow and made the trip across the isle to visit with us for the day!

The li'l guys were all so happy to see each other!  Picture it:  6 boys all under 8 years old, jumping for joy and hugging each other in the Holiday Inn lobby.  They made quite the scene - and it was joyous!

The three dads took a car and drove up to the highlands to go whiskey tasting for the day.  God speed, gentlemen!

The three moms took the six little boys on the bus down town to check out the National Museum of Scotland.  Yes, we were outnumbered, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle.

The museum was just the thing our boys needed!  It wasn't portraits of old guys in gilt frames (there were a few), but rather dinosaur skeletons, giant geodes, animal dioramas, space and rock exhibits and a nice hands-on kids area where they could let loose a bit.  Lunch was in the museum cafe - cool box lunches for the boys, tea and sandwiches for mom.

While we were enjoying our lovely afternoon, the dads were having a grand ol' time as well... until it was time to come home.  They'd had a great time at two distilleries and were ready to come back to town, have some dinner and chill with the fam for the evening.  However the car they took up had other plans.  As they left the second distillery it wouldn't start!  After a few attempts to start the car themselves they called a tow service.    The tow guy was able to drop Chris and Josh off down the road from a train station that would allow them to get back to Edinburgh, but he, Al and the car had to go back to Glasgow.  The adventure wasn't quite over though!  Upon arriving back in Edinburgh they ran into (get ready for it):  a Viking festival.  Oh yes.  Thousands of people walking up the Royal Mile, dressed as Vikings complete with torches, to the castle.  In the end it was quite an adventure, but the dads had a great time and came back with a few good stories and a good bottle or two as well.
