Snow Day!

We got almost 20" of snow... in a day!

We got a call at 5:30 a.m. from St Vrain Valley School district saying school was cancelled for the day, then we got a text and then we got an email!  When I say "we" I mean both Josh and I.  Two phones going off repeatedly before the sun comes up.  Josh even got an email from his office, as well, saying the office was closed.  Happy Wednesday, folks!

The boys were quite siked to get up and hear they don't have to go through the school morning motions.  As a matter of fact, after a big breakfast (complete with spring-time sprinkles) Van commented, "This feels like a Saturday or Sunday!"

We let them veg on the couch for a while, but soon decided it was time to go play in the fluff.  It was a spring snow - perfect packing snow!  We rarely get that here in Colorado - it's always dry, fluffy snow that falls apart immediately.  Great for skiing/snowboarding, not so great for snowball making. Josh dug the snowball makers out of the garage and while he went to work on the sidewalk, the boys and the dogs made awesome snowballs... and pelted mom and dad with them.

When dad was done we pulled out the sleds and walked a few blocks to a fun little sledding hill.  It sounded great... until we realized no one else had shoveled and we were wading through snow that deep, wet and heavy.  The boys were troopers!

By lunch time we were home again and ready for hot chocolate, cookies and snuggling under a blanket.  The snow was still coming down hard!
We enjoyed the (probably) last big snow of the season from our living room.
