A Fresh Coat

Well, after almost 10 years we figured it was time to paint the house.  I've never been a huge fan of the color it was - beige trimmed with a slightly peachy beige.  The decision was made to keep the body light but change the trim to a dark brown for a cleaner look and a bit of pop while keeping it neutral.

My dad agreed to come out to help, and we were SO thankful he did!  We've never taken a project of this magnitude and his steady head and expertise was greatly appreciated.

Friday early evening we decided to see if we could get the small (north) side of the house's body coated.  It had been a hot day and that was the only side of the house yet in shade.  Saturday was supposed to be a scorcher so whatever we could get done ahead of time would be welcome.  As it turned out we got the north side as well as east and most of the south sides done!

Saturday we were up with the sun and had bagels and coffee ready when folks showed up around 7am.  We got started right away while it was still relatively cool.  Mom and Dad were back with gusto, Lindsay arrived early with them and the Weagraffs arrived shortly after.  The whole crew was ready to roll!

By the time lunch rolled around we were almost done - no kidding!  We worked about an hour after lunch.  The weatherman had predicted a high of 97 but it felt like 127 in the sun - yikes!  The beer was cold and we were done - time to call it a day.

Everyone worked super hard and did an amazing job!  We love our newly painted home and think of the love that went into it from our family when ever we look up.

Since the big job was done we've changed out the exterior lights, the house numbers and have painted the mailbox and exterior doors a fantastic shade of teal blue.  Love it!
