Van's 1st Season of Baseball

Van opted out of playing spring football to give baseball a try.  His bff Brody plays and by chance they were assigned to the same team!  Have two boys ever been more siked?  I can't imagine.

He was on the "Dayton Dragons" team, with green jerseys and caps.  All the boys on the team were really great, and we were blessed with an amazing set of coaches and helpful parents.  Even Josh helped coach the kids through the lineup, was a third base coach and pitched a few times (this league was "coach pitch").

The whole Longmont Baseball League took a day to go to a Rockies game, too.  The boys and coaches, in their team shirts and caps, were able to walk around Coors field before the afternoon game.  We'd never been to an MLB game, so this was all such a treat for the whole family.  The Rockies played the Padres that afternoon, and won.  There were peanuts, hot dogs, sodas and a souvenir ball for Van.

Turns out Van is a pretty good hitter!  He was always good for an RBI or two.  When he wasn't batting his favorite position was catcher, but liked playing pitcher too (which was played at the same point on the field as the coach pitching and had a lot of action).  He had such a fun season he's already talking about next year (which will be "kid pitch" with fewer restrictions).
