Let's Play Ball!

Both boys played baseball this summer!  Wesley was on the Lugnuts, a coach-pitch team.  Van played with the same coach and mostly the same kids from last season, this year as The Mets (not those Mets, the Binghamton Mets).  It was a really good season for both boys.

Van's team had it's first season with kids pitching.  There were a lot of new skills there for them to learn.  He didn't particularly care for pitching, but found he did like catching, and was pretty good at it.

It was Wesley's first season playing so he had lots to learn!  He's a pretty good batter if he can put his mind to it.  When we started taking the boys to the batting cages Wes wouldn't even go in.  He was pretty intimidated by those balls whizzing in there.  But the second time we went he wasn't afraid at all, and was wacking 'em outta there!

One of the super fun parts of this league is getting to go to a Rockies game and seeing the players, our li'l guys, with their teams walk the field before the game.  They look so little but I know they feel so big doing it.   We could tell the boys were getting older this year when they were actually following the game and asking technical questions about plays (that the Dads answered).

There was a lot of growth this season for both kiddos and we're super proud of 'em.  We found two great coaches we'll follow as the seasons continue, too.
